APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH!
Today, I spotlight a Revolutionary Brother. A Political Activist and a Political Prisoner. A Black Panther Captain of the San Francisco Chapter. An Iconic Black Panther who worked closely with The Black Panther Party Free Breakfast for Children's Program. Brother Charles Bursey's work was captured through the photographic lens of Ruth-Marion Baruch and Pirkle Jones for a photo essay on The Black Panthers. The image is now iconic.
CHARLES BURSEY
TEARS OF JOYS
Tear of Joy
Tear of Horror
What makes these tears so
distinct?
Die today
Die tomorrow
What makes life so distinct,
Some men will be triumphant
Other men will die
There to fight,
There to struggle,
The Revolution and total Destruction
of this racist decadent
imperialist American society is
my battle cry.
