April Is National Poetry Month!
SAY IT LOUD!
WE’RE BLACK AND WE’RE PROUD!
Welcome to the 9th Annual
“April Is National Poetry Month Celebration!”
30 Days of Black Poetry!
In the past, we have celebrated the poetry of Marcus Garvey, “The Year of Black Moses.” Featured the poetry of the Brothers and Sisters of The Black Panther Party. “The Year of the Big Black Cat.” Paid homage to the Beginning, “Year of Genesis: Testaments, Prayers, Gospels, Psalms, or just in simple layperson’s terms, poetry written by 18th-century free and enslaved poets.” Honored Langston Hughes and Nikki Giovanni. Spotlighted Black Poets from the 1960s and 70s. Poets who poet unapologetically black.
With the current state of ameriKKKa and its transgressions against our itty-bitty teeny-weenie progress that we have made thus far. It’s only befitting that this year’s theme ties to ameriKKKa and all her gory.
During the next 30 days. You will read poems, testaments of our faith, our strength, our endurance, and our resilience.
GET READY!
APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH!
